Flags ordered at half-staff for Tintah firefighter

Gov. Tim Walz has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of a Minnesota firefighter who recently died from a medical condition obtained in the line of duty.

The governor said all state and U.S. flags should fly at half-staff Wednesday in remembrance of Timothy Kath.

Kath died on Dec. 31 after over 16 years of service with the Tintah Fire Department.

"Firefighter Kath was a dedicated firefighter who was respected by his family, friends, and colleagues," the proclamation issued by Walz reads. "With its deepest gratitude, the State of Minnesota recognizes Firefighter Kath for his dedicated service to, and sacrifice for, his fellow Minnesotans, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and community."

Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to join in lowering their flags.
