Fire in Minneapolis apartment Friday afternoon leaves one unit uninhabitable

A fire in Minneapolis has left one apartment unit uninhabitable Friday afternoon.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, shortly before 4 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of an apartment fire near the intersection of 55th Street East and 34th Avenue South.

Fire crews arrived and found smoke emitting from the first floor of the two-story apartment complex, according to a news release.

The Minneapolis Fire Department says they were able to extinguish the fire with minimal damage to neighboring units. However, the apartment unit where the fire started is uninhabitable.

No injuries or deaths were reported, the news release notes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
