Help Save The Minnesota Zoo was created by Nick Anderson. He said, as of Wednesday morning, about 1,100 donors have contributed to the cause.

Legislature to consider $6M request to assist Minnesota Zoo in midst of COVID-19

The Minnesota Zoo has been extremely low on funds due to a forced closure for COVID-19 reasons. The zoo was forced to lay off some employees and cut pay. There is a chance that the zoo may close permanently at the end of the month due to funding issues.

According to a zoo spokesperson, the zoo is projected to lose roughly $15 million during a two-year period. The proposed $6 million from the state legislature would replace roughly 40% of that projected loss, the spokesperson said.

The fundraiser's goal is set for $100,000.
