Monday morning, volunteers at Every Meal in Roseville packed up the latest batch of food bags. Now more than ever, these meals are a lifeline for kids across the metro.
“The biggest source of nutrition for kids are the school meals. When those buildings close, that’s the biggest loss of nutrition they have. As districts are trying to get the food out, we also are trying to get the food out,” said Rob Williams, President of Every Meal in Roseville.
Williams says they have been busier than ever and that distance learning and quarantines mean that some kids across the metro don’t have the same access they need to a reliable meal.
Every Meal food bags are a way to bridge the gap. Williams says they are trying to find places and partners to make them available like libraries, fire stations and city halls across the metro.
“We see a lot of need to be nimble and flexible,” he said.
Every Meal has already served more than one million meals this school year.
