Eden Valley man killed in Stearns Co. motorcycle crash

Authorities say one person is dead following a motorcycle crash Friday in Stearns County.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to an area along on County Road 162, about a mile west of County Road 43, in Eden Lake Township on a report of a motorcycle crash.

The caller reported he believed the driver of the motorcycle was dead, but didn’t witness the crash.

Deputies found the driver, identified as 59-year-old Michael Holthaus of Eden Valley, and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office says their investigation shows Holthaus lost control of the Harley Davidson motorcycle as he was maneuvering a curve, and was thrown from the bike after it rolled in a ditch.

Authorities say Holthaus wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.
