Early-morning shooting in Alexandria under investigation

Alexandria police are investigating after an early-morning shooting Tuesday.

Police said a 37-year-old man was hurt in the shooting and was treated for his injuries. Meanwhile, a 38-year-old man is being held for questioning.

The shooting happened at about 3:56 a.m. along the 500 block of Oak Street. Police received a report of two people in an altercation and then subsequent gunshots.

Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident and said there is no threat to the public.

The incident remains under investigation.
