Blaine crash leaves man dead, no arrests made

UPDATE 1/4: The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in the crash as James Douglas Sachs, 42, of Blaine.


Anoka County authorities say a man is dead after a crash early Tuesday morning in Blaine.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, multiple law enforcement agencies and first responders were called to the area of Central and 109th Avenues northeast just after 4:30 a.m. for a report of a person lying on the road.

A second call came in from a person who said the vehicle they were in may have hit someone lying on the road.

When authorities arrived, they found a man who had been injured, and began life-saving measures, however, he died at the scene. His name and age haven’t been released.

Shortly after, the Sheriff’s Office says they found the vehicle and driver suspected of hitting the man. The driver was identified as a 64-year-old man from Blaine.

Authorities add that the driver of the vehicle suspected of hitting the man is cooperating with their investigation. The incident is not being investigated as a hit-and-run.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office adds no one has been arrested as of this update.
