Eagan Police: 3 vehicles left unattended and running stolen in under 2 hours

Police in Eagan are reminding people to not leave their vehicles unattended and running after three vehicles were stolen in less than two hours Wednesday morning.

The first vehicle theft happened at about 6:55 a.m. in the 4000 block of Meadowlark Way. Then, at about 7:31 a.m., another vehicle was stolen in the 1400 block of Rocky Lane. Finally, at 8:36 a.m., a vehicle was taken from the 4300 block of Woodgate Lane.

Police recovered one of the three vehicles as of Wednesday afternoon, and officers were working to find the other two.

All three vehicles were left warming up in the driveway with keys in the ignition and nobody in the vehicle, police said.

Minneapolis Police again urging people to not leave vehicles running unattended as auto thefts increase

Police noted people should not only avoid leaving their vehicle running while unattended because it's a great opportunity for thieves, but also because it's against city ordinances.

Many police departments have reminded residents this winter to stop leaving vehicles running and unattended due to the high numbers of vehicle thefts, including Minneapolis Police twice.

MPD previously noted it's not just vehicles warming up unattended that are being targeted, but also food delivery drivers and vehicles with fobs left inside.
