Drivers in north metro will encounter major lane shifts and lane closures this week
It will be a busy week for construction as more lane shifts and lane closures go into place around the metro.
In the north metro, the ramp from Interstate 35W northbound to Highway 10 westbound will go down to one lane starting Monday through the summer. At the same time, the ramp from I-35W northbound to County Road J in Blaine will close for about a month. The detour takes motorists to Lake Drive, Naples Street, and back to County Road J. The work is part of the larger I-35W MnPASS project from Roseville to Lino Lakes.
Meanwhile, in Elk River, Highway 10 eastbound will go down to one lane between Xenia Avenue and Lowell Avenue through early November. The work is part of a larger reconstruction and improvement project. Learn more here.
In Roseville, crews will get started on some signal improvements along Snelling Avenue on Monday. You can expect closures on each side of the intersection lasting about two weeks. In late May, the work will move to the intersection at Snelling Avenue and Roselawn Avenue.
Later in the week, a major traffic shift is set for the northwest metro. If you travel along I-94 westbound between Maple Grove and St. Michael, some big changes are expected to be in place on or around Thursday, April 22. Drivers will have to make a choice before they reach the I-94/I-494 interchange in Maple Grove. Stay to the right to exit off the interstate, the left lane is the through lane. Lane shifts will be in place through September. Click here to learn more about the I-94 Clearwater to Maple Grove project.
