Downtown Moorhead Dairy Queen damaged in crash
The downtown Moorhead Dairy Queen was damaged in a crash on Saturday morning.
According to a release from the city of Moorhead, at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to 8 Street and Main Avenue on the report of a two-vehicle crash.
When officers arrived they found that one vehicle had hit the exterior of the Dairy Queen. Both drivers were evaluated at the scene, neither required transport to the hospital.
The investigation determined that the victim’s vehicle was stationary on Main Avenue facing west at 8 Street. The other vehicle was traveling east on Main Avenue when it crossed the center lane at 8 Street and struck the victim vehicle’s passenger side. The other vehicle then continued eastbound before coming to a rest against the Dairy Queen.
Statements at the scene indicate that the suspect driver possibly fell asleep while driving. The driver was cited for careless driving.
Damage to the Dairy Queen forced the business to close for the day.
