Downtown Minneapolis restaurant and bar Ties announces indefinite closure

A large downtown Minneapolis restaurant and bar has announced it has closed indefinitely due to “unforeseen circumstances” at its current location on Nicollet Mall.

It did not elaborate on the circumstances that caused the abrupt closure.

Ties Lounge and Rooftop had their grand opening on March 12th. The multi-story business is next to the Irish restaurant The Local, on Nicollet Mall between 9th St S. and 10th St S.

The Facebook post notes that the establishment’s purpose was to bring people together and back to downtown Minneapolis.

“It was a dream come true for us to see Ties Lounge and Rooftop bring many of you joy. All we ever wanted was to be the spark to push downtown back in the right direction,” the statement says.

The restaurant thanked its staff and told people to watch for forthcoming plans “continuing to tie Minneapolis together in the very near future.”
