DNR announces updated Mille Lacs walleye restrictions
Anglers who plan to enjoy time on Lake Mille Lacs will be able to enjoy some relaxed walleye restrictions this year.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has released its latest regulations, saying the one-fish limit will be in place on Sept. 1.
However, anglers will be able to choose from a wider range of catches because size limits are changing.
Now, anglers will be able to take home a walleye measuring between 20 and 23 inches, or larger than 26 inches. Previously, the regulations was one fish measuring from 21 to 23 inches or longer than 28 inches.
Fishing will be allowed from 6 a.m. until midnight.
The state says regulations for all other fish species are unchanged, adding walleye regulations for the winter season will be announced sometime in November.
