Dakota County sheriff will not seek reelection

Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie announced on Friday that he will not be running for a third term in office.

“I can admit that the last two years have been difficult for the profession. Fortunately for us, the residents, business leaders, and elected officials in Dakota County have been very supportive of our law enforcement community” Sheriff Leslie said in his release.

Leslie plans to spend more time with his grandchildren, golfing and volunteering after his term finishes.

The sheriff closed his remarks thanking the community, adding “It has been my honor and privilege to serve you.”
