Couple charged in bathtub drowning involving child sentenced to probation
A Bloomington couple that pleaded guilty to manslaughter after their 21-month-old son drowned in the bathtub were sentenced Monday.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said Eddy Pierre Louis and Sabina Pierre Louis were sentenced to three years of probation.
The attorney’s office said because the sentence is less than what the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines called for, Judge Willam Koch outlined his reasoning, which included the fact the couple showed remorse and accepted responsibility for the child’s death.
Bloomington couple charged in connection to drowning death of their 21-month-old son
According to a criminal complaint, Eddy Pierre Louis and Sabina Pierre Louis left their three children alone in their Bloomington apartment the morning of Sept. 21 while they went shopping at Walmart and Cub Foods. Surveillance footage obtained by the police shows they were out for at least an hour and a half.
When they returned, their oldest child was sleeping, but their 4-year-old child was in the bathroom. When they went into the bathroom, they discovered their 21-month-old in the tub.
