Construction on attainable housing project continues in south Minneapolis

On Thursday, workers started construction on a 43-unit apartment building in south Minneapolis.

According to a news release, the project, dubbed the Park & Franklin Lofts, is a 43-unit, four-story apartment building at the intersection of Park Avenue South and East Franklin Avenue.

Building owner Tashitaa Tuffa says the apartment building can help fill a need for moderately priced rental housing in the Ventura Village neighborhood of south Minneapolis.

"The focus at Park & Franklin Lofts is to create attainable housing for people and their families who live and work in the city," Tufaa said.

Thursday, Mayor Jacob Frey and City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins joined Tufaa for a news conference at the development.

The apartment building is expected to be completed in the first half of 2021.
