According to the American Cancer Society, 35,000 Minnesotans will be diagnosed with cancer this year.

Some of the state’s top business leaders say they want to try to do something about it.

The group “CIOs Against Cancer” hosted a fundraising event Wednesday in an effort to support early-stage cancer research through the American Cancer Society.

CIOs from companies such as Target, 3M, Cargill, Best Buy, Andersen Windows, CHS, Sleep Number, Life Time, and Land O’ Lakes, among others, attended the fundraiser.

KSTP anchor and reporter Kevin Doran was in Fridley on Wednesday to emcee the event. Information about making a donation can be found here.
