Chaska Police: 7 burglaries reported on Valentine’s Day morning

Authorities say seven burglaries were reported in Chaska early Monday morning.

The Chaska Police Department says officers received burglary reports in the Clover Ridge and Liberty Heights areas, as well as the area around Hundertmark and Bavaria roads.

In several of the cases, the suspects accessed unlocked vehicles and used garage door openers to get inside the homes, police say. In others, the suspects got into the homes through unlocked exterior garage service doors.

Police say they’re actively investigating the burglaries but are looking for any available surveillance video of suspicious people between midnight and 5 a.m. on Monday.

Anyone with information or video is asked to call police at 952-361-1231.

The department also said it will increase patrols in neighborhoods, and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity.

Police also urged residents to help reduce property crimes by following the “9 p.m. routine,” which consists of taking the following steps each night around 9 p.m.:

  • Lock vehicles, house entry points, close windows, garage doors, gates and sheds, including garage doors leading inside the home.
  • Remove garage door openers from vehicles that are left outside.
  • Turn on exterior lights, security cameras and alarm systems.
  • Bring any valuables from a vehicle, yard or patio inside.
