CDC, FDA investigating multistate outbreak of cyclospora infections linked to bagged salad mix

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), public health and regulatory officials in several states, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are investigating a multistate outbreak of cyclospora infections linked to a bagged salad mix containing iceberg lettuce, carrots and red cabbage produced by Fresh Express.

On June 27, Fresh Express recalled the product due to a possible cyclospora contamination.

Health officials warn of cyclospora outbreak in Aldi and Hy-Vee brand garden salads

According to the CDC, 509 cases of cyclospora have been confirmed in eight states, including Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.

The CDC adds 33 of those cases have been hospitalized.
