Car crashes into home in St. Cloud, driver cited

A driver was cited Wednesday after the car she was driving drove into a house in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud Police said officers were sent to a report that a vehicle had crashed into a home in the 300 block of 22nd Avenue at 1:13 p.m. There, officers found a car had driven through an exterior wall of the house, causing significant damage to both the home and vehicle.

Authorities determined 33-year-old Amal Muhyadin Mohamed was driving east on Third Street North when she swerved to avoid a vehicle that had legally entered the intersection. Her Toyota Camry then drove over the curb, through the yard and into the house on the corner of the intersection.

Police said speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.

Mohamed and her 3-year-old in the car suffered minor injuries and were both taken to a hospital for further assessment. Nobody else was injured in the incident.

Mohamed was cited for careless driving and not having a valid driver’s license, police said.
