Brooklyn Park man charged with illegal firearm possession

A Brooklyn Park man has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 23-year-old Tyaireon Martez West-Porter was arrested Monday and made his initial court appearance Tuesday.
According to an indictment, West-Porter was found to be in possession of a .40 caliber Glock 22 semi-automatic pistol on March 6. Because of his prior felony convictions, he’s not allowed to have a gun or ammunition at any time.
His next hearing is set for Thursday.
