Brooklyn Park: Gunshot at corn maze is ‘accidental shooting’

Brooklyn Park police say a man was “accidentally” shot in the leg when his gun went off Saturday at the Twin Cities Corn Maze.

The incident happened just after 11 a.m. near the corn pit.

Police say that a 38-year-old man was bending over to remove corn from his boot when the gun on his hip discharged, striking him in the upper leg.

The man was able to meet officers at the entrance of the event to receive medical aid before he was taken to the hospital.

Officers who responded to the incident say that the man had a valid permit to carry and was legally carrying the gun.

Authorities are investigating what caused the gun to fire.

No other injuries or damage to property were reported and normal operations resumed at the corn maze.
