Body found near area where boater went missing on Prior Lake

A body was found near the boat slip of a missing boater on Prior Lake.

According to a release from Scott County, dispatchers received a report of a missing boater at 7:20 Monday morning. The individual had not returned home the night before from fishing and boating.

Law enforcement responded to the Knotty Oar Marina and located the missing individual's unoccupied pontoon on their boat slip. Authorities also located the individual's cellphone on the slip and some personal belonging floating nearby in the water.

At approximately noon, a body was located and recovered near the individual's boat slip.

“Our investigators will be working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine how this person went into the lake,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen. “Our condolences go out to the family and friends who have lost a loved one.”

The identity of the victim and cause of death will be released at a later time. The incident is under investigation.
