Bloomington firefighter injured during overnight house fire

A Bloomington firefighter has a minor injury after working at the scene of a house fire, officials say.

Crews were called to the 8200 block of 15th Avenue South shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday. A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS photographer captured the scene just before 2 a.m. and found smoke billowing from the home.

Bloomington Fire Chief Ulie Seal says the fire was contained to the basement, and everyone inside was able to safely evacuate.

The firefighter who was injured was treated on scene for smoke inhalation, according to Seal. He adds no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
