Black bear spotted at University of St. Thomas
A jogger Sunday morning reported a bear was spotted near the St. Paul campus of the University of St. Thomas.
According to the University of St. Thomas spokeswoman, at around 7:55 a.m., a jogger flagged down a St. Thomas security guard and said there was a black bear near Summit Monument Park along the Mississippi River Boulevard.
By the time the security officer got to the scene, he believed he had caught a glimpse of the back end of the bear as it headed toward the woods near the river.
The security guard told the jogger to contact animal control for the St. Paul Police Department.
