Bally Sports streaming service for Wolves, Wild launching next month
Minnesota sports fans will soon have a new way to watch their favorite teams — at least a couple of them.
Wednesday, the Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned Diamond Sports Group announced that Bally Sports+ will expand to all 19 Bally Sports regional sports networks on Sept. 26, allowing fans to watch games on mobile and tablet devices or online.
However, as of the announcement, the streaming service will only include games of two Minnesota sports teams: the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Timberwolves.
While there was no mention of Minnesota Lynx and Minnesota United broadcasts in the release, Bally Sports told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that the couple remaining United games will be streamed, as will Lynx games when the next season starts.
The company says it doesn’t yet have the rights to stream Minnesota Twins broadcasts and is working on expanding its MLB offerings for next season. That means Twins fans won’t be able to stream the nine regular-season games after the service launches, nor potential postseason games.
As of now, fans are only able to watch Bally Sports North through cable, satellite or DirecTV’s Stream plan.
When it launches, Bally Sports+ will cost $19.99 per month or $189.99 per year. That will include Wild and Timberwolves games, as well as pre- and post-game shows.
The service already rolled out in a handful of regions back in June, including in Wisconsin.
