Authorities seize more than 2,000 unapproved tire rims in Minneapolis

Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized almost 2,500 “unapproved" tire rims that were exported from Thailand.

According to CBP, on Oct. 19, officers were inspecting a shipment of steel wheels that were going to a company in Minneapolis

It was later learned the company in Thailand is not a registered manufacture with the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration and that the rims were inadmissible.

The value of the rims was believed to more than $47,500.
