Authorities seek suspect in Independence hit-and-run
Authorities are looking for the suspect in a hit-and-run that left a cyclist seriously injured Saturday morning in Independence.
According to a news release from the West Hennepin Public Safety Department, around 7:16 a.m. Saturday, a cyclist was riding on the right shoulder while traveling eastbound on County Road 6 near Copeland Road when a passing motorist traveling in the same direction struck the rider and fled the scene.
The cyclist is in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the West Hennepin Public Safety Department said.
The suspect vehicle was described as a 2007 or older Chevrolet Express of GMC Savanna van. The color of the vehicle is unknown. The passenger-side mirror of the van broke off in the collision, police said.
