Authorities searching for missing swimmer in Lake Minnetonka
A man is missing after he jumped in Lake Minnetonka to help another swimmer.
Deputies from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol were dispatched to the lake around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on a report that a male swimmer had gone missing.
According to the sheriff’s office, a group of nine adults was aboard a pontoon boat in Lake Minnetonka’s Lower Lake. A woman from the group went in the water and began to struggle, two of the female passengers and one male jumped in to help her.
The three women made it back on the boat, but the man is still missing, the sheriff’s office stated.
Water patrol deputies are searching the water with sonar, the sheriff’s office stated.
