Authorities investigating attempted robbery near U of M campus

An attempted robbery that occurred in Dinkytown Sunday night is under investigation.

According to an alert from the University of Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the attempted robbery happened at about 8 p.m. near 13th Avenue Southeast and University Avenue Southeast.

The department said three male suspects got out of an older model car with tinted windows and approached the victim. They then punched the victim but the victim was able to get free and run away.

The incident is believed to be a robbery attempt.

The department said there is a limited physical description of the suspects but didn’t release any descriptive information.
