The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the teen who drowned in a Dakota County lake last week as 13-year-old Jeylon Elijah Holloway.
The medical examiner ruled that Holloway died of freshwater drowning.
According to a release from the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded Thursday at 1:30 p.m. to the report of a missing 13-year-old boy last seen in the 3000 block of Eagandale Place near Lemay Lake.
Teen found unresponsive, underwater during Eagan water rescue
When officers arrived, they located a shoe near the water, leading them to believe the missing teen may have fallen in the open water near the drainage culvert.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded to the incident and located Holloway within minutes of their arrival. Holloway was taken to University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, where he later died.
