State Patrol: Pedestrian hit, killed in Eden Prairie
The victim was identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner as 80-year-old John Thomas Nordeen.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash just after 7 a.m. Monday in Eden Prairie.
According to an incident report, 80-year-old John Nordeen of Eden Prairie was “walking against traffic in the crosswalk” on Highway 5 near Eden Prairie Road when he was struck by a car headed east on the highway.
Authorities say 59-year-old Jolene Santema, also from Eden Prairie, was driving the Mazda 6 involved in the crash. She was not injured.
Road conditions were listed as dry at the time of the crash. The roadway was shut down for several hours but has since reopened.
No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was listed as being inside the Mazda.
