Apartment fire in north Minneapolis displaces 3 families
Authorities say a fire at an apartment building Sunday evening in north Minneapolis left three families displaced.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, crews responded to a fire at a three-story apartment building just before 8 p.m. on the 1200 block of Banneker Avenue North.
When crews arrived, they saw fire showing on the first and third floors. Firefighters evacuated the building and started to search for people inside before extinguishing the fire. However, there was extensive damage to three apartments.
No one was found inside. Medics treated and released a resident who had breathing issues, and a firefighter was evaluated for overexertion and was released.
Three apartments were deemed uninhabitable, displacing three families totaling five adults and eight children.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
