Anoka County commissioners vote to close Bunker Beach Water Park for 2020 season

Tuesday, the Anoka County Board of Commissioners voted to close Bunker Beach Water Park in Coon Rapids for the 2020 season in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A news release from the county said opening for the season would, "have created obstacles in ensuring the safety of guests."

The county is in the process of contacting residents who have purchased season passes to issue refunds.

"Public safety is our primary concern with all our county facilities, and due to the spread of this virus and the challenges it poses, operating Bunker Beach this season would have been very difficult," Commissioner Mike Gamache said.
