American Lung Association hosts Fight For Air Climb at Allianz Field

People put in thousands of steps at Allianz Field in St. Paul Saturday morning — all to support a good cause.

Firefighters in their gear — joined community members for the American Lung Association’s “Fight for air climb.”

People went up and down the stairs — and all the money raised — goes toward research and education efforts to prevent lung cancer and lung diseases.

More than 600,000 Minnesotans are living with chronic lung disease.

Today’s fundraiser also hopes to clear up some misconceptions.

“Sadly, more and more people who haven’t smoked are getting lung cancer. If you have lungs you can get lung cancer. It has nothing to do with what you’ve done or anything like that. And that number’s going up.”

The fundraiser raised more than $140,000.
