All-terrain mobility chairs make state parks more accessible
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has partnered with the Minnesota Council on Disability to bring all-terrain tracked mobility chairs to six state parks.
The chairs, available for use starting June 2, will allow access to trails and other park features that are considered non-accessible to those with mobility concerns.
“Minnesota state parks are for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age or ability,” said DNR Assistant Commissioner Shannon Lotthammer, adding that “adaptive equipment like these all-terrain track chairs allows visitors to explore the great outdoors.”
In addition to this new program, an accessible beach chair is available at McCarthy Beach State Park, and tracked chairs are available in some local and county parks.
More information on the chairs and locations can be found here.
