Albert Lea man convicted of online child sexual exploitation
An Albert Lea man has been found guilty by a federal jury of charges relating to sextortion and child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 32-year-old Travis Kyle Mayer was convicted on two counts of production and attempted production of child porn, one count of distributing child porn, possessing child porn, receipt of child porn, coercion and enticement of a minor, committing a felony involving a minor and obstructing justice.
Mayer downloaded and received child pornography from a Russian-based child porn distribution website in 2017, the attorney’s office said. He then sexually exploited a 15-year-old girl in 2018.
The entire time, he was required to register as a sex offender, prosecutors said.
Mayer faces up to life in prison. A sentencing date hasn’t yet been scheduled.
