After 35 years, Kitchen Window in Uptown to close its doors

A kitchen and housewares store in Uptown is closing its doors after 35 years in business.

Kitchen Window made the announcement Monday, stating the store will close in January.

"In our wildest dreams, we couldn’t have imagined what this store was to become and what it has meant to so many people," Doug Huemoeller, president and co-owner of Kitchen Window with Lia Huemoeller, said in a statement. "We have hosted hundreds of thousands of guests in our cooking schools–developing skills and sharing the joy of food and cooking. We’ve served customers from every continent, including an uncountable number of Minnesotans. Built an amazing team of dedicated employees that love to learn and shared their knowledge and passion for food and cooking. And developed strong partnerships with hundreds of amazing suppliers. It’s been fun, it’s been a joy and a privilege."

Huemoeller said the decision to close was a personal one.

"I am so very thankful for the amazing community of staff, customers and vendors that have all contributed to making Kitchen Window so much more than just a store," Huemoeller said in a statement. "It has been truly inspiring."

The store’s closing sale will begin Friday, and then a Garage Sale Liquidation event will be held Dec. 2-5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
