84-year-old man identified as pedestrian victim in fatal motorcycle crash

The man who died on Aug. 31 after being struck by a motorcycle has been identified as 84-year-old Youa Noua Moua, according to the Hennepin County Medical Center.

Moua was a pedestrian who was struck by a motorcycle and died due to the multiple blunt force injuries. According to the Hennepin County Medical Center, the manner of death is an accident.

At 4:34 p.m., the Minneapolis Police Department responded to Bryant Avenue North and Olson Memorial Highway on a motor vehicle crash report involving a pedestrian.

According to police, the preliminary investigation stated that Moua was walking northbound on Bryant Avenue North crossing against what the traffic control device stated. The motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Olson Memorial Highway and attempted to miss Moua but ended up striking him. The motorcyclist also went down after the crash.

Moua suffered severe injuries and died at the hospital a short time later.

The motorcyclist also suffered serious injuries, but they are not considered to be life-threatening.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet during the time of the incident, stated police.

No additional information has been released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
