57-year-old St. Paul grandmother remains in coma after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver, suspect remains at large

A 57-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in St. Paul remains in critical condition, according to the St. Paul Police Department.
Police say Carolyn is a mother and grandmother who lives off Rice Street. She was gravely injured in the incident and is currently in a coma with a brain bleed, pelvic fracture and other internal injuries.
She told police the driver of the minivan who hit her stopped, checked on her, and then fled the area. Police say even with officers canvassing the area, interviewing witnesses at the time and review of surveillance video, a suspect had yet to be found or has come forward.

Police say they know the driver is a Black male, about five feet, 10 inches tall and was wearing a green and black hat at the time of the incident. He fled southbound on Rice Street, traveling at a high rate of speed. Authorities add there was one individual at a nearby bus stop who may have spoken to the driver after the crash and St. Paul police requests to speak with that person.
As for the minivan, it may be a Dodge, according to police, adding that it had a front passenger tire without a hubcap. The vehicle may also be missing part or all of its front bumper and likely have other front-end and windshield damage.
