4 officers injured, several cited after large fight in Brooklyn Center

Four officers were injured and several people were issued citations after a large fight broke out in Brooklyn Center Tuesday night.

According to Brooklyn Center Police, officers responded to an area near 57th Avenue North and Logan Avenue North just after 5 p.m. for a report of 15 females fighting in a front yard.

The first officers at the scene tried breaking up the fight between two females, who had to be physically pulled away from each other. Police said one of the females had to be tackled in order to be handcuffed.

While the combatants were being detained, a man arrived and started assaulting someone who lived at the home. Officers had to tackle the man, who continued to resist arrest, but eventually handcuffed him, police said.

As the man was being detained, police said several other fights broke out within the group.

Robbinsdale, Crystal and Minneapolis police, as well as Hennepin County deputies, responded to help disperse the crowd.

Police said several people were issued citations and released, and only the man was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for obstruction and assault.

While nobody in the crowd reported injuries, police said four officers suffered minor injuries that didn’t require significant medical attention.
