3rd night of demonstrations more peaceful in St. Cloud

A crowd of demonstrators gathered for a third consecutive night in St. Cloud, but this time the protest against racism and police brutality was more peaceful.

After two nights of unrest, the Rev. James Alberts of Higher Ground Church of God in Christ shared a megaphone with people Tuesday night who wanted to talk about their experiences with racism and other issues.

Alberts encouraged the crowd of about 150 to keep the gathering peaceful.

The St. Cloud Times reports police stopped twice to settle conflicts among members of the crowd. On Monday night into early Tuesday, police used tear gas and made dozens of arrests.
