30-year-old driver dies after hitting traffic light in Eagan

A 30-year-old Eagan man died after hitting a traffic light with his vehicle early Wednesday.

A Minnesota State Patrol incident report states the man was driving south on Highway 149 at about 2 a.m. when his vehicle hit the traffic light at the intersection of Opperman Drive.

The incident report identifies the man as Robert Holmquist, stating he was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

According to a State Patrol report, the road was dry at the time, adding it is currently unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Eagan firefighters and the Hennepin County medical examiner assisted at the scene, the incident report states.

The crash is still being investigated.
