3 airlifted to hospital, 2 others treated after bonfire accident
Three people were airlifted to a hospital while two others were treated at a hospital after a bonfire accident in Yellow Medicine County.
According to the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies learned multiple people were injured at a bonfire in rural Granite Falls at 2:20 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities said a flammable liquid was poured onto the fire, burning several people that were near it.
An 18-year-old was airlifted from the scene while two 20-year-olds were taken to the local airport and airlifted to a hospital from there, the sheriff’s office said. Additionally, another 18-year-old and 20-year-old were treated for their injuries at a hospital.
The severity of their injuries wasn’t released.
An investigation is ongoing.
