2 teens in custody after gunfire leads to crash in Brooklyn Park

Police say two people are in custody after an overnight shooting led to a car crash in Brooklyn Park.

According to police, officers were called to the intersection of Brookdale Drive and Highway 252 for a report of a crash and shots being fired at 1:47 a.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, police say they found the victims had been followed by people who they’d gotten into an argument with at an area gas station, and the suspects fired at the victims while driving.

Officers say the victims’ vehicle was hit by bullets and crashed into another vehicle as a result of being shot at.

The people inside the vehicle weren’t injured by bullets but had some injuries from the crash, police say.

Police tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the unrelated vehicle was occupied by one person, and that person also had minor injuries due to the crash.

Eventually, officers were able to find the two suspects in a home on the 9900 block of Hampshire Avenue North in Brooklyn Park, and they were arrested without incident.

Brooklyn Park police tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the two suspects who were arrested were 16 and 17 years of age.

Police did not immediately say how many people in total were injured during the incident, or specify the ages of those who were injured.

The incident is still being investigated.
