2 shot at West St. Paul gas station Sunday night
Two people were hospitalized Sunday night after being found with gunshot wounds at a West St. Paul gas station.
West St. Paul Police said officers and medics went to a Marathon gas station on Mendota Road shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday on a report of a woman who had been shot in the foot.
After arriving at the scene, authorities found the woman as well as a man who had been shot multiple times.
Both were taken to a hospital, police said. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries but the man underwent surgery. His condition as of Monday morning was unclear.
While officers tried to secure the scene and tend to the victims, a large group confronted first responders and refused to follow commands to leave the scene, police said. Some people in the group also tried to take control of a vehicle that one of the victims was in.
Officers from neighboring departments were called to assist with crowd control and the scene was cleared by 11 p.m.
Police said they believe the victims were targeted but no arrests have been announced. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 651-552-4200.
The investigation remains active.
