2 rescued, taken to hospital after house fire in Minneapolis

Two people were taken to a hospital after a house fire in Minneapolis Thursday night.

Crews responded to a two-alarm house fire in the 2300 block of Fremont Avenue North just before 10 p.m.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, two victims were rescued by firefighters upon arrival. The fire was upgraded two a two-alarm blaze within a few minutes for extra equipment and responders. Shortly after 10, crews found fire on the second floor of the home where it was contained.

The fire was completely out at 10:30 p.m. Paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center took an 89-year-old man and a 72-year-old disabled woman to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment, the fire department said.

There is no further information at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
