2 injured in separate snowmobile crashes in Barron County

Within the last week, multiple people were injured in snowmobile crashes in Barron County.

The Barron County Sheriff's Department said the first crash occurred Monday when a snowmobile struck a tree. The 33-year-old snowmobile operator was flown to an area hospital with a broken leg.

The second crash occurred Wednesday night on 26th Avenue near Highway M.

The sheriff's department said the operator of the snowmobile failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a tree.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in both crashes.
