2 injured, 1 in custody after stabbing incident in North St. Paul

Two people were injured and a 74-year-old man is in custody after a stabbing incident Thursday in North St. Paul.

Police were called just before 11:50 a.m. to the 2500 block Seventh Avenue on the report of an assault. Before officers arrived, they learned two people were stabbed after a robbery at an antique business.

Once on the scene, officers found the suspect attempting to flee on foot. The suspect, later identified as Jeffrey Fredric Frank, sprayed a chemical irritant at one of the officers. Frank was taken into custody after an officer deployed a Taser.

The two victims were transported to Regions Hospital with "possible life-threatening injuries."

The police officer was also transported to Regions Hospital for injuries. The officer was later released.
