2 hurt in shooting on St. Paul light rail platform

Two people were taken to the hospital after a shooting Monday night on a light rail platform in St. Paul.

Metro Transit says it happened at around 6:45 p.m. on the eastbound platform of the Western Avenue station.

Authorities say a man and a juvenile female got off the train and onto the platform. At some point, a juvenile male who’d also exited the train at the platform shot and injured the two victims.

The ages of the juvenile female and juvenile male are unknown at this time.

According to Metro Transit, it’s still unclear what led up to the shooting, but it didn’t appear that the victims and suspect had any confrontation beforehand.

The victims were taken to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police say they are still looking for the juvenile male.

Witnesses have been interviewed, and the shooting remains under investigation.
