Two people were taken to a hospital, and a man was arrested Friday afternoon when an attempt to flee police ended with a two-vehicle crash in St. Paul.
Woodbury police say officers saw a vehicle just after 1:20 p.m. that had fled from the Minnesota State Patrol Thursday night. Officers tried to box the vehicle in to stop it, but it fled westbound on Interstate 94.
Officers started pursuing the vehicle and attempted a PIT maneuver, but the vehicle continued onto White Bear Avenue. At that point, Woodbury police say officers decided to end their pursuit.
However, after disengaging, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle a few blocks later at Minnehaha Avenue.
As of result of the crash, two people in the vehicle hit by the suspect were injured and taken to a hospital by ambulance, police say. As of Friday night, they were in stable condition.
The suspect, a 33-year-old from St. Paul, was also taken to a hospital and then booked into Washington County Jail for fleeing police, drug possession, and gun possession by a felon, according to police.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
